Citing his regnal name al-Daʿi ila al-Haqq, ‘lā ilāha illā / Allāh waḥdahū / lā sharīka lahū / al-Dāʿī ilā al-Ḥaqq’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him. al-Daʿi ila al-Haqq’ in Arabic); in the inner margin, ‘bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-dirham bi madīnat Jurjān sana tham[ān …]’ (‘In the name of Allah. This dirham was struck in the city of Jurjan in the year [26]8’ in Arabic); in the outer margin, traces of ‘qul lā asʾalukum ʿalayhi ajran illā al-mawaddata fī al-qurbā wa man yaqtarif ḥasanatan nazid lahū fīhā ḥusnā’ (‘Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my relatives and whoever earns good, We add for him more of good therein’ in Arabic; Qurʾān 42: 23). Rev. ‘li-llāh / Muḥammad / rasūl / Allāh / [al-Ḥasan ibn] Zayd’ (‘To Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. al-Hasan ibn Zayd’ in Arabic); in the margin, traces of ‘udhina li-lladhīna yuqātalūna bi annahum ẓulimū wa inna Allāh ʿalā naṣrihim laqadīr’ (‘Permission [to fight] is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed and surely Allah is most powerful for their victory’ in Arabic; Qurʾān 22: 39).
